Power security and green power are more important than ever before. Now 2021 has come and gone, there’s time to reflect on just how much the globe has transformed over the past two years. The COVID-19 pandemic has proved catastrophic worldwide. In short, it’s been a preview of what is believed will occur if industry doesn’t curtail global warming and move to a sustainable future.
Significantly impacting supply chains, ports, industry, and personnel, the ramifications of COVID-19 have been felt in every industry. We all witnessed first-hand how a worldwide pandemic can interconnect everyone. This has been unlike anything we have ever seen in the past. Secondly, we saw that when there was hope of COVID-19 subsiding, due to the creation of vaccines, the subsequent rollout was more difficult than first imagined. Timelines for vaccine rollouts were extended in multiple countries or pushed back to 2022 or later.
THE TIME FOR POWER SECURITY, GREEN POWER, AND A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE IS NOW
Ultimately, the pandemic taught us that in any truly global situation, everyone is affected in one way or another. From paying for gas in the car, to putting food on the table, to retaining jobs and maintaining family incomes, everything was affected. We learned to keep our distance from loved ones, and we also became more digitally dependent than ever before. Video collaboration software such as Zoom has made us more versatile and perseverant than we ever thought.
In this sense, the COVID-19 pandemic has been a frightening wake-up call to what could potentially happen if industry doesn’t curtail global warming and move towards a sustainable future. In the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), nearly 200 countries agreed to the Glasgow Climate Pact to keep 1.5C alive and finalize the outstanding elements of the Paris Agreement [1]. As part of this, some of the world’s largest car manufacturers are working together to make all new car sales zero emission by 2040. This would significantly reduce global greenhouse gas (GHG) output in turn.
To sign up for a future standard is easy for governments to do. However, enabling true greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction requires tactical solutions from one customer at a time to realize the aggregated results.
FORECASTING POWER GRID DEMAND AND A CLEANER GRID
General forecasts predict that power grid demand is going to experience continued growth. This is due to the number of electric vehicles that are going to be available and sold to consumers. It is also forecasted that data is going to grow due to the interconnectivity of everything that we want to own and interact with.
It is finally predicted that we need more and more renewables to make the grid cleaner and to have the opportunity to reduce high greenhouse gas (GHG) emitting power plants. However, to securely interconnect cleaner renewable solutions, the power grid will need additional “shock absorbers”. These will maintain grid reliability and security. Generally, these shock absorbers are batteries or similar solutions that can consume and release energy instantaneously. In essence, if the sun stops shining or the wind stops blowing the grid, you can keep the lights on!
PRIORITIZE YOUR POWER SECURITY. EMBRACE GREEN POWER WITH DEMAND POWER.
Demand Power Group Inc. (“DPGI”) has what your Commercial or Industrial enterprise needs. We will enable more shock absorbers on the grid and reduce your energy costs. We can provide your business an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) solution that provides a power security envelope around your facility. Not only that but it enables additional shock absorption capabilities on the grid. This allows for more renewable penetration and the reduction of your enterprise’s carbon footprint.
We acknowledge we are only one piece of a much larger puzzle to get to a sustainable future. However, what we learned in 2021 is that we are all interconnected. It’s down to all of us to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This is a priority to create a sustainable future for ourselves, our children, and our grandchildren.
